About Claire

Born in a small mountainous town in China, I developed a love for nature and adventure from a young age. This passion fueled my desire to explore the world and immerse myself in different cultures, leading me to travel to over 20 countries early in life. These experiences left me with cherished memories and valuable friendships, profoundly shaping my worldview and personal values. Curiosity, openness, inclusivity, creativity, spontaneity, and a spirit of adventure have always been fundamental to my identity.

Raised by well-educated parents who instilled in me the importance of free thinking, independence, and gender equality, I was encouraged to keep an open mind and think critically about social norms. The seed for living in a fair, authentic, and compassionate society - and for striving to make the world a better place - was planted in me early on.

My interest in life sciences and psychology led me to earn two Master’s degrees: one in Experimental Medicine and the other in Clinical Counselling. This academic background provides a comprehensive and integrative mind-body perspective that informs and enriches my clinical work. Having studied and immigrated abroad myself, I understand firsthand the emotional needs of international students, the stress and uncertainty often associated with the immigration process, and the unique challenges faced by immigrant families. These experiences fostered in me a deep compassion for individuals undergoing migration and acculturation, while also inspiring awe at the resilience of people facing adversity. In addition, as a partner in a marriage of over a decade and a dedicated mother of three, I bring lived experience and deep insight into intimate relationships, marriage, family life, and parenting.

I am dedicated to combining my life experiences and professional expertise to support individuals, couples, and families in exploring their concerns, processing emotions, developing resilience, and moving toward authentic living.

My Approach to Therapy

I hold a profound belief in the inherent wisdom, resilience, and self-actualization potential within every individual. With a client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approach, my goal is to cultivate a safe, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can embark on their personal journeys of healing, growth, and self-discovery. I strongly believe that clients are the experts of their own lives. I meet them where they are, follow their pace in therapy, and work collaboratively to achieve their counselling goals.

My areas of expertise include childhood and intergenerational trauma, attachment and inner child work, family and relationship issues, traumatic life events, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, anger management, self-harm, self-esteem, and coping with life transitions. I also support clients dealing with physical and psychological trauma resulting from car accidents, chronic illnesses, and natural disasters, as well as nervous system dysregulation, somatic symptoms, and interpersonal challenges stemming from abuse, bullying, or sexual assault.

I hold certifications in various trauma-informed, attachment-based therapeutic modalities, including Somatic Experiencing (SE), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and EMDR. I also incorporate interventions from a wide range of other evidence-based counselling approaches based on each client’s unique needs. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, and more.

Working collaboratively with my clients, I am committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families in fostering self-growth and moving toward their life goals. Your well-being is my priority, and I am here to support you every step of the way. Contact me for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit and how I can be of support.
